Ms O's 4th Birthday Party at The Little Gym

We are big birthday party people. Every year my kids pick a party and a theme. My daughter takes weekly classes at the Little Gym and you accrue member milestone points every semester. We had enough for a free birthday party so I "encouraged" O to have a party at the Little Gym. She was very excited and agreed we selected the Princess theme. We even went to Wal-mart and ordered this GREAT castle cake that was a bargain at $38.

Parties are usually very stressful lots of planning and preparing and I must say this one was anything but stressful. I passed my daughters class list onto the Little Gym and added a few friends and they took care of everything else, we literally just had to bring the cake on the day of the party.

When we arrived everyone we went to the party room where the table was set complete with a chair with balloons tied to it for the birthday girl. At precisely 4:30 they let the kids who were already there go in and have some free play in the gym. All of the kids loved running around and trying all the equipment.

When all the guests arrived they started the planned activities. They started with a warm up where everyone introduced themselves and did an activity following along to music.

After the opening activity out came the air track and the kids LOVED it, who doesn't love jumping and being silly?

The final activity in the gym was whale rides selected by Ms O. The kids who had never done them before were beyond excited.

After the hour in the gym we went back to the party room for singing Happy Birthday and having cake.

Finally we all congregated to watch O open her presents everyone of which she loved. The staff at the Little Gym even kept a list of who gave her what and for parents with preschoolers what a great idea since they rip them open faster than you can read the card.

All in all this was the Mr and I's favorite party ever beyond getting the cake we literally didn't have to do anything. Ms O and all of her friends loved the party too, she said, "It was the best." I would recommend a party at the Little Gym to anyone looking for something fun to do for a birthday party for kids age 1-6.

Holiday World Santa Claus, IN

So we spent a few days in August at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana and let me tell you it was a blast. So much so we are planning on going back next year.

When I was booking the trip I over analyzed the hotel situation since it was the one area I heard that was lacking in the area. We decided to stay at a Holiday Inn Express in Tell City, which is about 30 minutes from Holiday World. It was a nice clean hotel with a lot of fast food restaurants nearby.

The first day when we arrived we went to The Christmas Shop which is in a little strip mall on Christmas Blvd. lol We got to see Santa and the kids loved it, they were not expecting it at all and it is so funny to have a picture of my kids in shorts and flip flops with Santa Claus. Santa was so sweet and good with all three of my kids and they all got candy canes and we were allowed to take our own picture and they sold pictures as well and we bought one (of course).

After our visit with Santa we went to Santa's Candy Castle. I cannot say enough about how nice the owner of this shop was. He "made snow" with my kids and two other kids that were in the store and they of course loved it, the had lots of prepackaged candy as well as some of their own fudge. They had a computer area which we didn't do because it was $6.99 and I was unclear of what it included. The best thing at this store was the Frozen Hot Chocolate, it was absolutely delicious. I need to figure out how to make it at home because that is a long drive to get more. lol We also bought our Holiday world 1 day tickets here at a discounted price it was the cheapest price I found for the tickets.

We then headed to Tell City to find our hotel after we checked in we went on a hunt to find a sit down restaurant. We happened upon a locally owned place called Capers, great food reasonably priced. We liked it so much we had them deliver to our hotel the second night. :) After dinner we went back to the hotel and swam in the hotel pool and had a lot of fun.

The next morning after our free breakfast at the hotel we headed to Holiday World. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but I must say I was pleasantly suprised. First thing parking was free which is pretty much unheard of at any other theme park we have ever been too. Upon arriving we went ahead and bought the second day for $21 tickets so we didn't have to do it later because we planned on heading to the water park the next day. When we walked in there was a Holidog statue with a photographer being familiar with this at other parks being an expensive souvenier I started to walk past when the photographer stopped me and said the pictures were free they post them online and you can download them for free. How great is that? After our picture we went to the free sunscreen stand which are located throughout the park and lathered up.

The theme park is divided into different holidays there was a Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, 4th of July and Holidogs Fun Town. Each section had rides that the whole family could ride. The kids loved all the rides they could ride and they were so excited to see all the different holidays. The park is so clean and the employees are so friendly no one seemed annoyed even when they were giving us the free refreshments they were super friendly. The free refreshements were great they had Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Sierra Mist, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Lemonade, Fruit Punch and Water. If you wanted bottled water it cost $1.59 but I thought the water from the fountain tasted fine. We decided to have lunch in Thanksgiving and it was so good and incredibly reasonably priced, the five of us ate lunch for $23 and we had fried chicken two sides and either a roll or cornbread. I had the best green beans I have ever had in my life! lol The park closed at 7:30 so we headed back to our hotel around 7 and ordered our Caper's for dinner it was great to have it delivered.

The next day we went to Splashin Safari inside Holiday World and it was a fabulous waterpark. When we arrived we rented a locked for our valuables I believe it was $5. Then we headed to check out the park. There was so much to take in there were 5 different kids areas, 2 for toddlers and 3 for all other kids. There were 2 lazy rivers, 2 wave pools and countless other water slides.  There were free life jackets available but they were all gone when we first got to the wave pools so I would suggest bringing your own, we did and it just seemed easier. Again they had the free sunscreen and soda so that saved so much money. For lunch we went to one of the Grills near the wave pools. They had a meal that was 2 hot dogs with fries for $4.79 so we got two of those and the kids ate those and the Mr and I got cheeseburgers with fries that were also $4. So the five of us ate lunch for less than $15. A thunderstorm popped up shortly after lunch and everyone that stayed gathered under the covered areas it lasted about 10 minutes and everything was reopened and the crew went to work drying all the tables and chairs which was nice. Around 6 the kids were getting tired and wanted some ice cream so we went got dressed and got ice cream for the two little ones and a funnel cake for the rest of us to share. The ice creams were huge and they could have shared one because neither one of them at half their ice cream lol.

On the way back to the hotel we stopped at Chicago's Pizza in Tell City and it was really good VERY reasonably priced Chicago style pizza which I love.

The next morning on our way home we drove through the Lake Rudolph campgrounds and it seemed nice I mean it's a campground but it seemed ok and everyone we talked to who was staying there seemed to really enjoy their stay. All in all it was a great trip and we can't wait to go back next year, I think next year we may try Lake Rudolph campground and rent a cabin.

It's been a while

It's been a while since I posted we have been busy with all three kids starting school and me trying to start a new business that I haven't had much time. After two years I gave up on Uppercase Living while I love the product there are just no repeat sales because you can only have so many in your home. lol I am now trying my hand at Homemade Gourmet which is already going quite well because it is a consumable product I have already had repeat customers! Anyway if you are interested in placing an order you can visit my website here! I will be catching up on several posts the next few days, enjoy your weekend!

Ice Cream

Today O is mad at me because I will not let her eat ice cream for breakfast. I said, "You can't have it for breakfast." She said, "Can I have it for dessert?" I said, "Sure" She said, "Can I have dessert?" lol She is so funny.

Water Slide Playdate

Yesterday we had a playdate with our friends. We first went to lunch at a local Mexican restaurant and then we headed back to our house to play on our new Banzai Roaring Rapids Adventure Waterslide.  We had 6 kids ages 2 to 11 playing on the water slide and there was plenty of room with no fighting and lots of fun to be had.

Alone Time

O my darling little 3 year old told the Mr tonight that she needs some alone time so he needs to get out of her room. lol

The Drive In AGAIN!

Sunday night we went to the drive-in again this time we saw Despicable Me, Toy Story 3 was the second movie but since we have already seen it more than once we left after the first movie. I must say I was pleasantly suprised by Despicable Me it was very good and probably one of my favorite animated movies of all times, it was touching and funny all at the same time.

Leave a message

Sitting here tonight playing with the kids and the Mr called to B and B said, "B's not here right now please leave a message after the beep, BBEEEEPPPP!" It was so funny even the Mr laughed and forgot what he wanted him for. lol

3 year old advice

Today I got some interesting advice from my three year old O. She told me to go faster on our way home. I told her, "I can't go faster it's not safe and a police man will give him a ticket." She said, "Well don't slap him because then he will put you in a cage." lol She is quite the character, she proceeded to go on about me getting put in a cage and her being all alone. Apparently she has seen an episode of cops I was unaware of...lol

Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After

So last night we went to the Drive in to see Toy Story 3 and Shrek Forever After. I remember going to the Drive In as a kid, my brother and I always wore our PJ's and we took a big bag of popcorn. The movie I remember seeing the best was E.T.

Anyway saturday we took our three kids and a friend of ours son, our neighbors and another friend of mine and her kids all went. It was a lot of fun. The kids all piled in the back of the truck with foam mats, blankets and pillows.

Toy Story 3 was great I almost cried at the end it was so touching, I can't wait to see it again! Shrek Forever After was good but I really like the first Shrek the best. I think it is worth seeing if you like Shrek but I wouldn't pay the movie theater prices, wait for the dollar movies or the DVD>

The Karate Kid

Last night a moth got in our house, O is deathly afraid of all bugs so this moth might as well have been a gun wielding maniac the way she screamed. B said, "I'll take care of it!." He ran to the kitchen rummaged through the drawer and came back with our barbecue tongs and ran around the living room trying to catch the moth with the tongs, Karate Kid with the chopsticks style. lol After about 10 minutes of laughing, I opened the front door and the moth left. It added a little excitement to our otherwise dull evening. :)

Free summer fun!

One of our favorite things to do is go to the movies and there is nothing better than the free Family Summer Series at Wehrenberg theaters. Last Thursday 6/17 we saw Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and today we are going to see Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel. We own both of these movies but for some reason the kids enjoy them so much more in the theater and I enjoy getting out of the house!

Water Fight!!!

Tonight as the Mr got home we were outside with B while he was swimming in the little blow up pool. When all of the sudden they both turned on me and chased me around throwing buckets of water on me. It was fun but I was soaked from head to toe. Then the neighbor girl came over and after I changed her and B chased me into the house and they stood outside with buckets of water trying to convince me to come outside. I love summer!

My own Alex P Keaton

Anyone remember that 80's show Family Ties? Michael J Fox played Alex P Keaton the money hungry son. Well I often joke that B is Alex because he is definitely motivated by money. Sunday night the Mr bought some scratchers and let B and O each scratch one well they each won $10 so he took them to the gas station down the road and let them get their money. Today I was looking for some cash to pay the guy who cut our grass and I said to B where is your $10 and he said, "In my dollar drawer." I said, "Show me." He hesitated and begrudgingly agreed. We went back to his bedroom and the bottom of his bookcase has 4 small drawers he opened one and it was full of ones and the two fives he got Sunday. I started counting and he had at least $20 he wouldn't let me keep going. lol I took the $10 and started to walk out and he said, "Hey when are you going to pay me back?" lol I am proud of him for saving his money but am a little curious as to where it all came from... :)

Seizures...YUCK!

So D is having break through seizures that we cannot get under control right now and it is wearing the poor guy out. His neurologist is out of town so we can't really make any medicine changes right now. He came home from school and just wanted to nap, he didn't even want his lunch until after nap time. Please keep him in your thoughts.

Nail time

Today I went for a pedicure and took O with me and she got both her fingers and toes painted and they only charged me $3. She LOVED it, she was talking about getting them painted pink all the way there, when we arrived she picked orange. :) A bright neon orange that she just loves and is showing to everyone over and over again. This is without a doubt the best part of having a girl.

Fathers Day

Today is a Fathers Day and a great time to thank all those Dads for everything they do for us. Our family spends the day with my husbands family out at a small lake where we all swim and eat great food. Happy Fathers Day!

Yemmy Yem's

I know kids all have things they pronounce incorrectly, I love to hear them. My niece who is now 17 used to say, “I got forgot.” instead of I forgot. She said it so frequently that my husband and I still say it regularly. B calls a fly swatter a fly snapper and Ms O says Yemmy Yem’s for M&M’s and it is without a doubt my favorite mispronunciation of all time, it is so cute that I will not let the Mr correct her instead we all call them Yemmy Yem’s now. Lol

Love Day!

Is there anything cuter than a 3 year old making “Love Day” cards for the other kids in the neighborhood in the middle of summer? I was watching the movie Valentine’s Day which was not as good as I expected with the superstar cast I found it quite boring and lacking in a real story, anyway Ms O heard it and decided to make Love Day cards. Lol

The bad Mommy award

So we went to the hot tub after we put the kids to bed. Ms O woke up and couldn't find us so she sat in the living room screaming, I came in and heard her and she said, "I couldn't find you." It was so sad, I felt like the very worst Mom ever. The lesson here…bring the baby monitor to the hot tub.

Picture Time

Today my friend Donnell took pictures of B and it was hot, the thermometer in the car said 101 degrees. Anyway we walked around downtown Kirkwood and jumped into the shade whenever possible and she got some awesome pictures. You can see the pictures at Donnell Probst Photography's Blog She does a great job and I appreciate her patience in the heat when B was being a pain. :)

Beauty Shop!

Ms O has taken a sudden interest in other peoples hair, she likes to brush it and fix it as best she can. Yesterday O told the Mr (who shaves his hair) that he has tiny hair. Tonight we played beauty shop and at one point I had 28 bows in my hair. Before we finished she took them all out and just put in one Halloween bow (yes it is June) I walked around with it for the rest of the night. <3 I never got to be the hairdresser only the client. I did however get to be the nail girl and painted her nails blue. She wanted to paint mine but I declined because the last time I let her paint my nails my fingers from my knuckles to the tips where all painted. Lol

The big boy

Little Ms O who is three has the sweetest voice (when she is not screaming at her brothers) said the nicest thing today. When B got on the bus for the first time to ride it to summer school, I said out loud, “He looks so big.” O replied, “He looks so big and handsome.” It was one of those moments when I wished others were around to hear how sweet she can be to her big brothers.

It's Show Time!

So last night Ms O had her very first dance recital and while she didn't necessarily do the entire routine, I was so proud of her. The whole recital was great and she could not have looked any cuter. She is shy by nature and I think it is amazing she will get on that stage and not even be phased by the huge number of people in the crowd.

Aside from the dancing they had a raffle for an American Girl Doll and O won Lanie the doll of the year. She was so excited and all the little girls were excited to look at the doll, it was the perfect end to a great night!

The smartest Mom

I know he is only 5 but I once again impressed B with my “vast” knowledge of computers. (Really my knowledge is limited to turn it off and turn it back on and ctrl, alt, delete.) When the computer shut off by itself and I turned it back on and got it past the safe screen, the exact quote from B was, “Wow Mom, you are brilliant.” I wish I would have had a video camera going because in a few years I am sure I won’t know anything.

It's that time of year!

The Ticks are back! YUCK! This one was found on B's head.

The Visitor

Just saw a turtle walking down the middle of the street in our subdivision. I stood out there not sure of what to do, I bent over to pick it up three times and got scared. Finally I had to get one of the neighbors sons who is 7 to pick it up and put it some where safe because there is no way I could touch the thing. When asked why I didn’t just pick it up I have no answer other than it is gross looking and the head kind of looks like a snake. Lol

The Baby Store!

Today I was told by B that we used to be rich and live in a big house with a pool. Not remembering this time I asked when it was and I was told, “Remember it was before I moved in, you know when I was still at the baby store.” This baby store business all started at The Little Gym. There was a Mom there with a baby and B said, “I like your baby, where did you get it?” The Mom laughing replied, “Babies R Us.” He said, “Oh we should get one Mom.” lol
